Is it spring yet??

We had a long, cold snowy winter here in Elgin, but knock on wood, I think we are finally getting into spring. The last batch of snow has melted and a stroll through my soggy backyard has revealed the very tips of my daffodils and daylilies emerging. I spoke to an EA in Michigan the other day and she said she had hyacinth popping up. The improvement in the weather (we're talking daytime temps in the 40's or low 50's) has me really ready for full-blown spring. Unfortunately, the snow melting has shown me just how much work I've got coming up! Now if it will just be somewhat warm and dry over the weekend so I can get a start.
How about you, how has spring progressed where you are?

Well - just 300 miles from you and we have a winter storm coming in on Thursday. But I'm seeing a lot of ground where the snow has melted.

Well Spring IS starting to show in central, IL. I also have several inches of green appearing in several flower beds. I love Spring. It is my favorite time of the year; however, I also know that will be a very busy time getting those beds ready for Spring. Yuk.
Personally, I'd rather sew a Spring wardrobe, so am anxiously awaiting the next drop.

Here in northern California, we have daffodils and tulips blooming. The trees are gorgeous, almonds are white and the flowering plums are all in pink. Sad part is we usually get a late freeze which damages the fruit trees.
I'm ready for summer. I am tired of hauling firewood and building a fire everyday.

In North Texas, in my yard, both my pink and white azaleas are beginning to bloom, as are the coral camellisa. The red bud tree that is surrounded by the white azaleas is also budding out with color. The dogwoods are finished. The dianthus is spreading but has not flowered. The crepe myrtle buds are bulging, and the yellow climbing roses are incredible. The fence along my driveway is soooooo full of yellow roses of Texas (pun intended). Today we are in the 80's but will go back to the 70's for the rest of the week. Yesterday, we topped out in the 50s, so who knows? Until the middle of May, we are subject to all four seasons.
Hopefully, the second week in April will be beautiful in Elgin!

Here in N central Fla the azaleas are all finished blooming, the Dogwoods are in full bloom, day lillies and daffodils are up, no flowers yet. All the trees are full of new green leaves.
High today will be mid-70's, back to the eighties tomorrow.
(We just had a cold front come through, yesterday the high was only 67) Summer will be here in about a month!

It's spring in Cincinnati (southern Ohio) .... crocus blooming (although they started blooming and then were covered w/ 11.5" of snow in an atypical storm in early March, snows here usually top out from 2" to 5") ... daffodils at full height with buds, hyacinths in full bud .... so anticipating some pretty blooms and heavenly scents
I've already weeded the flower bed once of some low spreading weed, trying to get ahead of that one this year. Need to sprinkle with Preen and put down some more mulch.
There are some other vining plants that I want to pull out but have found that they really want to stay. I guess that will be a battle of wills in the next few weeks.

Here in Southern Alberta (Canada) we know it's spring because we have the occasional blade of green grass (in sheltered areas) and the buds on the trees are swelling, though it will probably be another month before they leaf out. We know we'll have several major snow storms yet, but that snow will quickly melt. Sometimes I'm envious when I hear of how far spring has progressed in other areas, but when we have to wait for it so long, it is even more exciting when it finally arrives!!

We did not get our predicted snowstorm in SE Minnesota yesterday. Things are definitely looking up.

Lucky you! WE DID get rain, ice and snow - woke up this morn and there was about 1 1/2 inches on the ground! It stuck mostly to the grass, but enough on the road to make the drive into work this morn interesting!
But it is looking up, the sun is out!

lol ... be careful
who
you ask ... the Chicago folks will probably say it is warm and we'll all be shivering
in January Kat doesn't wear a coat because "it's not cold" ... "not like it was in northern Minnesota"
I just looked at the extended 10-day forecast and Elgin won't get out of the 40s except for low 50s on one or two days. In the same time frame, Cincinnati will consistently be 10 degrees warmer on all days.
And our Texas folks will probably all show up wearing their summer tans!
All that being said, the sewing lab is always warm, especially in the afternoons because of the heat from the ovens (not to mention the wonderful aromas) that come from a bakery on the first floor.

Ah Detail Diva, you know us too well! You are correct, I would have responded that it will be warm - like t-shirt weather (at least for us from around here) because it WILL be upper 40's, low 50's if you listen to the weather forecast!

Oh Denise, I think you are exaggerating the "tough Chicagoan" thing!
I am still wearing sweaters and sweatshirts with a light lined windbreaker type jacket. Weather today is supposed to be close to 60 with rain for the Cubs home opener, then high 40s or low 50s for most of the week. The forecast is for rain most days. Fortunately, weather was nice enough Saturday to scratch the surface of my spring yard cleanup.
