There are two models - a two thread coverstitch and a three thread coverstitch.  I prefer the Janome because you can remove a tiny piece of the shell of the machine which allows you a freearm application.  It also does the chain stitch.  It also has accessories.  We sell the two needle version for $450 in Texas, if that gives you a comparative price.

The ideal, and economical setup is the Babylock Imagine and the Janome Covestitch Pro.

Hi,

I have the Janome 1000 Pro 4 thread from Allbrands.com in Alabama. I Paid $500 for it. I've had it for a year now. Altho I love the way it hems t-shirts I will be using it for more things than that...after I get back to the instruction book.  Smiley I also ordered a box or two of needles from their site.
Gee I hope it was alright to mention that site. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to & will not do it again.

Regards,
