The diet continues - over my skepticism and fears, but it is working. 62 pounds so far!!!! I feel so much better that it is scary, but I know that I have a long way to go. I keep thinking I will wake up and find that it is a dream, but the scale keeps telling me a consistent story, so I am going with the flow. Clothing is becoming a major problem however, since my body is changing fast enough that I cannot get a good set of measurements that lasts longer than a week. For now, I am concentrating on styles that do not involve a tailored fit. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Knits which drape. I can fluctuate around 25 pounds with my knit pants without having to sew again. 20 is better as that doesn't affect the pockets but a long shirt handles the other. I am too between sizes and have taken to running up the crotch seam tighter to keep the things from falling off.
Also, you might try putting in what I call the maternity pant elastic casing technique which leaves an open seam with a long tail of elastic down a leg. It is meant for allowing the use of the every expanding waist but could work the other way to allow an easy way to keep tightening the waist.
Anything with simple sewing techniques so say the arms get too baggy, then a run up with the machine from hem to arm hem will fix it for the moment.
Simple sewing with simple fixes. No tailoring until you are done!!

I am not sure if I can wait until I am "done" for tailored garments, since that will take a long time. However, I hope that I can do it in some sort of stages. I guess that I will have to see if the weight loss slows down. In the meantime, thanks for the ideas. Some of these I had already implemented, but will start a reminder list by my sewing machine!

My closet resembles something that Oprah once said - S,M,
L, and elastic. The S and M have been archived.

Time for a periodic update - 71 pounds!!!!!!! I have another 10 days to go on this Reduction cycle, and I hope to make 75 pounds, but even if I do not lose any more this cycle I am very happy. However, my poor closet... Each morning it looks like a tornado hit it. I thought I could wear the pants that I made for Puyallup on Sunday, but they fell off
It certainly makes getting dressed in the morning an adventure. I ended up wearing a magyar top, which (lacking a set-in sleeve) is more forgiving of my changing measurements. I have promised myself not to measure until the end of this cycle, but I am getting VERY curious.

I am on my second Reboot stage and up to 2600 calories a day without any gain - Whoopee! I took my measurements and did a skimmer again, just so I could document the changes - and so I have clothes to wear that do not droop
. The image my pattern comparison is attached, I thought you might find it interesting.

Glad to hear from you again Kay Ellen -we have missed you! I am up to 3000 calories per day, and will probably just stop there, it is making me crazy trying to eat that much. And my weight loss is now just a couple ounces short of 80# - so I am thrilled!! I go on Redux again in the second week of June - we will have to see how this one goes, but I am very pleased and satisfied with the diet itself. The wonderful part is that I am NOT adding more weight on when I stop the restrictive phase of the cycle, which augers well for my life once I get off of it. Don't be a stranger!

Here is my comparison.
The blue lines show where I was at the time of the 4Q09 user conference before I started the diet.
The yellow lines show where I was at about 3 weeks after the end of the first reduction, just before the Feb 2010 Puyallup show.
The magenta lines show where I am about 6 weeks after second reduction, now, at the end of May 2010.
You may notice that the magenta front bust is a bit bigger than the yellow but the back somewhat smaller. My bust appears to have 'migrated' somewhat from side to front - not a bad thing to happen I think. I still have about 50# that I'd like to lose, so it will be interesting. I am really hoping that the next comes off my middle front again. I can wear size 16 pants (that are already in my closet) in the hip/butt - but the waistline is agonizing.

Thanks, Kathryn. That's really interesting about the bust. I'm really hoping to get a bust dart out of all of this! And your sleeves have changed substantially too.

I'm really considering the hcb diet thing that the health food store now has. It is the drops under the tongue one with the extreme diet restrictions. The manager of the store has lost 50 pounds in two months.

I just went on the third reduction cycle this AM. So I am going to see how this one goes. Just like Kathryn, I have seen a huge change. I have lost a bit under 80 pounds so far, and am hoping to lose at least another 25-30 this round. Trying to keep up with the body changes has been a bit of a challenge, but I feel so much better that I really cannot complain. I have had to switch to magyar tops and raglans, since the shoulder point is changing as I lose bulk over the shoulder line. Having a "sloppy" shoulder REALLY bugs me!
I have been winnowing out my closet as I go - AmVets and Purple Heart Vets have gotten LOTS of donations this year.
This is the first year in over a decade that I have been able to do gardening myself - lots of fun. And sooooooooo many weeds to remove.
I love this diet - it is the first thing that has worked for me - EVER. I will keep you posted.

Good luck with the 3rd round! I'm on day 30 of the first round and I'm down 18.5 lbs. Wish it were more but I'm still happy - hard not to be happy when I got my first two grandbabies last Monday. We are so thankful that Lucy and Sam made it almost to full term (37 weeks for twins). That was amazing since my dil had been on bedrest for over 11 weeks with the babies threatening to come way early.
And I didn't fall off the diet wagon during all the excitement! I'm hoping for a few more good days before I my first round is over.
Haven't done any TCC sewing lately - but we are discovering the "new" cloth diapers. I have a sewing room full of fleece, wool, PUL (waterproof fabric) ZORB (absorbant stuff) and a new snap press, and, and,
